Sakshi Malik brought the bronze medal in women’s freestyle wrestling 58k category and it is the  first medal for India at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil. The entire nation of India was longing for when the first medal was going to come with a few close chances. And also the first women’s wrestling medal for India in the history of the Olympics.  Sakshi has created history here and a trendsetter and a role model for women in the field for wrestling in India.

Sakshi Malik beat Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan for her bronze medal. Sakshi Malk was trailing the match 0-5 and then scored consecutive two vital points twice to make it 4-5.  Then she took her opponent outside the ring to make it 5-5.  However, the opponent was still in the lead as a result of scoring the higher 4 points earlier in the match. With only few seconds to go, Sakshi Malik did not lose courage and hope and eventually with all her might scored the winning points.  Bravo.  The Bronze Medal Winner Sakshi Malik. The First Indian woman to win a medal in wrestling.  A national hero and role model.  What a champion.  India salutes you Sakshi
